An evening triple bill of films celebrating the entanglement of bodies and place, with a special focus on London and its shelters, rafts and sanctuaries. It brings together Chiara Ambrosio’s ‘Raft - A London Story’, a screening of work by The Parlour Collective, and Joseph Despins’s 1976 feature ‘The Moon Over The Alley’, with an opening performance from Bird Radio and James Hesford. Ambrosio’s film is described as a musical haunting and contemporary fairytale about a specific place poised between appearance and disappearance, seeking new forms of sanctuary and belonging; The Parlour Collective are artists working with site-responsive performance and film, exploring the psychological and somatic experience of landscape. Despins’s dark yet tender 1976 British experimental musical, scored by Galt MacDermont, explores the problems facing the multicultural residents of a Notting Hill boarding house destined for demolition.
