A concert titled Rímur, part of the London Festival of Baroque Music, lasting one hour and forty minutes including an interval. It is a collaboration between the Norwegian vocal trio Trio Mediæval and celebrated jazz trumpeter Arve Henriksen. The programme reimagines ancient Nordic songs through a blend of medieval chant, folk traditions and contemporary improvisation, inspired by the connection between Rivedal in Norway and Reykjavík. It weaves together sacred hymns, 17th-century Icelandic music, the storytelling rhythms of Icelandic rímur and the wordless vocal art of Scandinavian tralling.
