Roots is a series of social meet-ups held at The Albany, open to all ages and free to attend without booking. It is presented by The Albany Community Council, whose members all have strong connections to Deptford and Lewisham and help shape the venue's programme. The meet-ups are by and for sanctuary seekers – asylum seekers, refugees and migrants – together with allies, aiming to build more community in Lewisham. Each session is a drop-in workshop around gardening, food, tea making, art and culture, followed by a free lunch from the café; adults and families are welcome.
