Rostro x Eminem is a solo performance piece, part concert and part play, in which classical music meets hip-hop. Written, directed and performed by Olivier van den Hende, a Franco-American actor and classically trained cellist based in London. It tells of Olivier, a young man raised to become a great cellist in the image of Mstislav Rostropovich, who hears something else calling him. Through live music and storytelling, it traces his coming of age between inheritance and rebellion, with the cello sometimes a demanded instrument and sometimes a weapon of his own rebellion.
