Spirit of Django is a concert of jazz and orchestral sound lasting one hour without an interval, staged at Smith Square Hall. It is built on themes by guitarist Martin Taylor, orchestrated by Guy Barker, and celebrates the legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Conducted by trumpeter and composer Guy Barker, it features Martin Taylor with the Guy Barker Big Band and Sinfonia Smith Square, joining jazz soloists with full orchestral forces. Expect swinging rhythms, lyrical improvisation, lush orchestral colour and irresistible musical energy.
