Taylor Mac: A 24-Decade History of Popular Music is a concert experience at the Royal Festival Hall that reimagines history as a dazzling, deeply personal musical journey through the soul of America. Trailblazing New York artist Taylor Mac, an award-winning actor, theatre-maker and singer-songwriter, performs it with the Philharmonia Orchestra in its UK orchestral premiere, an abridged version of the original 24-hour-long performance art concert. Part orchestral concert, part performance art, it spans 240 years of American history, blending ballads, anthems, disco and more with extraordinary costumes, irreverent humour and poignant storytelling, and challenges audiences to reconsider whose stories are told and how we listen to them.
