A screening of the romantic comedy film The Lady Eve, part of the Film Show series at a community library. The film was directed by Preston Sturges and stars Barbara Stanwyck, Henry Fonda, William Demarest and Eugene Pallette. It tells of Charles Pike, a wealthy and innocent heir returning from a year studying snakes in the Amazon, who on the ocean liner home meets Jean Harrington, a glamorous con artist who sets her sights on him. When their romance takes an unexpected turn, Jean reappears in a very different guise, setting the stage for one of cinema's most complicated romantic pursuits.
