The Mutation follows Se-oh, who works as a white-tiger mascot at an amusement park until overwork makes him collapse; he buys a luxury suitcase and sets off travelling, where So-ra appears at his side. Se-oh, of Black, mixed-race descent and knowing little about the circumstances of his birth, feels safer living in society wearing a mask, while So-ra has lived under shadows since the death of her same-sex lover. The film traces their journey and the facets of their pasts, shining light on the simple but powerful gesture of reaching a hand out to someone who has fallen. It was directed by Shin Su-won and stars Han Hyun-min and Lee Zoo-young.
