A concert of music by the Elizabethan composer John Dowland, given as 'John Dowland: Another Retrospective' by Jupiter Ensemble. Lutenist Thomas Dunford directs an ensemble of four singers — soprano Melissa Petit, mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre, countertenor Hugh Cutting, tenor Thomas Hobbs and bass Florian Störtz — plus five viola da gamba players. The programme, lasting about two hours with an interval, draws on Dowland's songbooks and his Lachrimae pieces for viol consort, marking the 400th anniversary of the composer's death. Dunford, whose ensemble recorded Songs of Passion for Warner Classics in 2025, calls Dowland 'the John Lennon of the 16th Century.'
