A late-night jazz concert at the Vortex Jazz Club, with drummer Jochen Rueckert leading his new New York City Quartet through one set of music. The band brings together standout young musicians – Kevin Sun on tenor saxophone, Alexandra Ridout on trumpet and Hamish Smith on double bass – decades Rueckert's junior, championing the next generation. Rueckert, known from the Kurt Rosenwinkel Quartet and Sam Yahel Trio and whose earlier quartet toured internationally for over 15 years, sees the group release its debut album "How to Survive a Beheading", his seventh as a bandleader.
