Zakuro Rising is an EP launch party by RIEKO, an avant classical composer and performance artist known for residencies at Tate, the ICA and Turner Contemporary. The evening blends mindfulness, high fashion and experimental pop, opening with her Séances meditation workshop combining improvised sound, reiki and automatic writing, alongside a crystal sound bath led by her mother. RIEKO then performs her new EP, titled Zakuro — Japanese for pomegranate, symbolising a Buddhist demon turned deity who protects mothers and children — with DJ sets from Yraki and HEZEN of playbody and an exhibition of artwork by HYDRA, Lucy Feng, Jesse May Fisher and Detroit Law. It suits fans of experimental music, live art, sound healing and queer nightlife.
