A New York premiere screening of five short films from the Displacement Film Fund, presented in two programs. The fund, co-founded and led by actor and producer Cate Blanchett to champion and fund the work of displaced filmmakers, will be hosted by Blanchett together with the Hubert Bals Fund of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The shorts are directed by Maryna Er Gorbach (Ukraine), Shahrbanoo Sadat (Afghanistan), Hasan Kattan (Syria), Mohammad Rasoulof (Iran), and Mo Harawe (Somalia-Austria), and tell stories of displacement, exile, and adaptation, from a hypnosis ritual for a Ukrainian veteran to a writer reclaiming a new language in exile. Filmmakers Maryna Er Gorbach and Mo Harawe appear in person at each program.
