Bill Russell Memoir Launch is a book event celebrating still, bill, a memoir by musical theatre writer Bill Russell. Russell, author of Side Show, elegies for angels, punks and raging queens, and Pageant, tells how an effeminate boy from the Black Hills of South Dakota made his way to Broadway and the West End. The memoir traces his path from grade school fairy-tale productions to writing books and lyrics for internationally produced musicals. Along the way it offers a ringside view of cultural change from the 1950s to the 2020s, from hippies and gay liberation to AIDS and covid and the push backs against justice and democracy.
