A screening of the feature film BIRD IN HAND followed by a Q&A panel with its producers, moderated by film programmer Caryn Coleman, founder of The Future of Film is Female. The Fusion Film Festival invites audiences to the feature debut of NYU Tisch alum Melody C. Roscher, who wrote and directed it. The film follows newly engaged Bird Rowe as she returns to her rural hometown to plan her wedding with her narcissistic hippie mother, while secretly pursuing an agenda that leads her to her mother's new neighbors, a couple trying to 'rebrand' a plantation. Inspired by Roscher's biracial experience, it weaves themes of race, belonging, and family into a bitingly comic story starring Alisha Wainwright and Christine Lahti.
