A community Shabbat luncheon at Congregation Sherith Israel titled 'Between the Wars: Jewish Characters in 1920s & 1930s American Literature'. It is hosted by the congregation's Book Club and features insights and guided discussion by Professor Shaina Trapedo of Yeshiva University, following morning services. Book club members and non-members alike are welcome, with a list of 22 selected books offered for optional reading, including works by Anzia Yezierska, Willa Cather, and F. Scott Fitzgerald; Professor Trapedo is expected to give special attention to William Faulkner's 'Absalom, Absalom'. Dr. Trapedo directs honors programs at Stern College and Yeshiva College, teaches English at Stern College, and is a resident scholar at Yeshiva University's Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought.
