"Duo: Jason Byron Gavann & Jack Pierson" is a photography exhibition at Daniel Cooney Fine Art presenting portraits by two artists whose friendship spans nearly five decades. Jason Byron Gavann and Jack Pierson met in Boston in the early 1970s, when Gavann introduced Pierson to the city's LGBTQ+ social scene, and both became associated with the Boston School. Gavann shows vintage black-and-white and color photographs documenting queer life in Boston and Provincetown, while Pierson's contemporary portraits combine color and black-and-white imagery within individual frames. Using portraiture as common ground, the exhibition considers the ties between friendship, artistic influence, and the cultural communities that shape an artist's vision.
