Fly Away Redbirds – Morning Ride is a round-trip vintage subway excursion on the famed Redbird cars, which ran in service from 1959 through 2003. The New York Transit Museum puts on the ride, which starts and ends at the historic Old South Ferry station, open in 1905 and closed to the public since 2017. Before departure, riders can photograph the train on the platform and see original mosaics and terracotta artwork. The 90-100-minute ride goes up to the Bronx and through a train yard for a behind-the-scenes look before returning downtown.
