A screening of the film "Force of Evil" by director and writer Abraham Polonsky, a film noir from 1948 starring John Garfield. It follows an unscrupulous Wall Street lawyer who goes into business with a mobster, a scheme that invades the peaceful life of his more honest brother, played by Thomas Gomez. A commentary on the dark effects of capitalism, it is an evocatively shot cornerstone of 1940s New York cinema, with a famous climax set by the George Washington Bridge.
