"Hellraiser" is a horror landmark, shown in a new 4K restoration, in which a hedonistic uncle plays with a mysterious puzzle box, summons the Cenobites and endangers his unsuspecting niece. It was directed by Clive Barker, who adapted his own novella "The Hellbound Heart," with Doug Bradley in an iconic performance as the leader of the Cenobites and Ashley Laurence as the niece. The film is a work of remarkable specificity and imagination. Melody Maker called it the best horror film ever to be made in Britain.
