A course at the Strother School of Radical Attention titled "HOUSEWORK as WORLD-BUILDING (1/3)", the first of three sessions running Wednesdays through November 18. It is led by feminist writer, researcher, and organizer Zafi Tate. The course closely attends to domestic labor, drawing on the 1970s International Wages for Housework movement, thinkers on the politics of care such as M.E. O'Brien and Mai'a Williams, artists Mierle Laderman Ukeles and Mona Hatoum, and the contemplative work of Thich Nhat Hanh. Through discussion, attention practices, collaborative writing, and experimental performance art, participants examine housework in their own lives and what rigorous attention might alchemize it into.
