An in-person conversation with three theatermakers at Asia Society about the New York premiere of Lauren Yee's play King of the Yees at Signature Theatre. Playwright and screenwriter Lauren Yee, Tony-winning actor Francis Jue and playwright David Henry Hwang discuss sharing the notion of family in their work, their stories of their fathers and portraying them on stage. The play tells of Larry Yee, a driving force in San Francisco Chinatown and the heart of the Yee Fung Toy Family Association, whose daughter Lauren sets off on a surreal quest to find him when he disappears. The three also discuss Asian American families, lineages and storytelling in the theater.
