Live Performance: Echoes of Mulberry Street is an illustrated lecture performance on Italian music publishing, Italian luthiers, and the parallels to Tin Pan Alley in early 20th-century New York. It is by John T. La Barbera, a composer and author of books on the Italian mandolin. The talk centers on Mulberry Street in lower Manhattan, where composers, performers, publishers, luthiers and record companies kept Italian music flowing across the U.S. and back to Italy. Musical examples will be performed on guitar and mandolin, with PowerPoint illustrations, artifacts and original sheet music from the period.
