Lost Highway is a 1997 film directed by David Lynch, starring Bill Pullman, Patricia Arquette and Balthazar Getty. Loosely inspired by coverage of the O. J. Simpson trial, it begins as a dark domestic drama about a sexually incompetent saxophonist and his wife, morphs into a story about a mechanic who gets involved with a gangster's girl, and ends in an unleashing of apocalyptic, purgative flame. Its descriptions liken it to a depiction of a psychogenic fugue state with the pull of a whirlpool and the terrible logic of a nightmare.
