Memory as a Rock Out of Reach: EMA and Tabitha Nikolai is an hour-long duet performance premiering at Roulette. Artist/musician Erika M. Anderson (EMA) and visual artist Tabitha Nikolai use video game technologies to build out the psychosexual inner world of a girl-child in the '80s, with Anderson on music, sound and narration and Nikolai on live visuals. Soundtracked by modular synth and guitar, a narrator searches for her shape amid commercial detritus, degraded 3D scans of suburbia, and a Polly Pocket apocalypse. A free livestream at 8pm on the day of the performance will also be archived for future viewing.
