MOCA TALKS with Hilda Shen is an in-person evening conversation at the Museum of Chinese in America, open to the general public. The museum welcomes Brooklyn artist Hilda Shen for a talk about Their Landscapes, the inaugural exhibition of MOCA's Solo Artist Projects (SAP), an initiative presenting one-person exhibitions of new work. Shen's practice involves an inquisitive scrutiny of nature and an instinct for deconstruction, with forms that can appear both ancient and futuristic, naturally occurring and handmade, suggesting processes of construction and decay. She will reflect on the ideas, influences, and creative processes behind her ceramic sculptures and prints, considering how we observe, interpret, and imagine our surroundings, across post-minimalism, Chinese landscape painting, and architectural space.
