An opening reception at Recess for the artist and musician YATTA's Session installation, Iron + Palm Wine: Koneh Pelawoe. Through the musical legacy of Rogie, YATTA explores entanglements of Blackness, land, leisure, and extraction, drawing on palm wine music as a balm for the psychic wounds of the transatlantic slave trade. The evening offers light refreshments, a first look at the installation, and a poetry reading featuring poets from Camille Dungy's 2009 anthology Black Nature.
