A screening of the film "Sad Vacation". Director Shinji Aoyama adapted it from his own novel as the third and final film of his "Kitakyushu Saga". It stars Tadanobu Asano as Kenji, a young man scarred by an unhappy childhood who, while drifting through odd jobs, recognizes his employer's wife as the mother who abandoned him and plots to infiltrate the household. A rich, moving human drama of families assigned and chosen, captured with striking, somber beauty by cinematographer Masaki Tamura.
