School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play is a Broadway play at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in New York. Written by Tony Award nominee Jocelyn Bioh and directed by Tony Award-nominated Whitney White, the comedy is set in a 1986 Ghanaian boarding school where teenage girls compete for the Miss Ghana pageant. It is about beauty, girlhood, and coming of age in a surface-obsessed culture, exploring friendship, jealousy, and crushing beauty standards. The cast includes Patina Miller, Denée Benton, and Jasmine Amy Rogers, and the production is staged by Manhattan Theatre Club.
