A benefit concert in which renowned singers give their own takes on music documented by Alan Lomax, following a New York premiere screening of Lomax's rarely seen 1961 film "Ballads, Blues, and Bluegrass". The evening is hosted by Dom Flemons and features Peter Stampfel, Kyp Malone, Catherine Russell, Luther Dickinson, Laura Cantrell, Grace Bergere, and Stephanie Jenkins performing songs from the digital archive of the Association for Cultural Equity. The film's screening shows performances by Doc Watson, Roscoe Holcomb, Willie Dixon, Memphis Slim, Clarence Ashley, The New Lost City Ramblers, Jean Ritchie, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Peter LaFarge, Ernie Mars and The Greenbriar Boys. The concert is the kick-off event of the Brooklyn Folk Festival, presented by the Jalopy Theatre.
