Skirball Salon: On Butoh is a free panel discussion held in the NYU Skirball Lower Lobby. It brings together André Lepecki (NYU), Katherine Profeta (Yale) and Yoko Shioya (Japan Society) for a conversation on Sankai Juku's history, legacy, and future. Sankai Juku is a butoh company founded by Ushio Amagatsu in Tokyo in 1975, known for a refined 'second-generation' butoh he described as a dialogue with gravity. The company toured the world from 1980 onward, performing in more than forty countries.
