A public science seminar in the Center for Studies in Physics and Biology series, held at Rockefeller University. Nikta Fakhri, associate professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, explores how irreversibility shapes the organization and function of living matter, from molecular assemblies to multicellular organisms. Combining experiments and theory, she discusses phenomena such as living chiral crystals, odd elasticity, and probability flows that direct biological decision-making. Refreshments are offered beforehand in the Lower Level Greenberg Building.
