New Weird Future: a Work in Process is a speculative eco-opera and puppet pageant-in-process running at La MaMa. It is written, directed, and composed by Tiresias, who also performs, together with Synead, Wes Garlington aka Klondyke, Ellen Zahniser, Mizuho Kappa, Nicki Kissil, and Emily Batsford. The work imagines futures of multispecies flourishing in the ruins of the Anthropocene, promising utopian visions of eclectic, non-innocent entanglements on Future Earth as a collective act of radical queer defiance against apathetic submission to climate apocalypse.
