The show \"Inheritors of Earth\", curated by Premjish Achari, turns to plants as co-inhabitants of the earth rather than backdrop, resource, or specimen. Through paintings, photographs, installations and video, the artists practice a \"phytosensitive\" approach, tracing colonial botanical migrations and honoring uncredited lower-caste knowledge-keepers erased from scientific archives. The film follows a research team searching for florigen, a substance that could make plants flower, while biologist and author Florianne Koechlin visits Europe's most advanced laboratories and reveals how plants, fungi, insects and microbes communicate with each other. The artist duo Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger blur the boundaries between humans and nature, creating surreal art installations from their living garden.
