«L’avenir» is a feature film directed by Mia Hansen-Løve, starring Isabelle Huppert. It follows Nathalie, a devoted philosophy teacher in Paris, who leads a full life with her husband, adult children and mother. When her husband leaves her for another woman, she must reinvent herself and her life, faced with a sudden freedom that also brings loneliness. The film paints an intense, ironic portrait of ageing beginning and asks about happiness, vocation and how philosophy can be applied to everyday life.
