The Räbenliechtli parades see three processions carry artfully carved, glowing turnip lanterns through the neighbourhood – a beloved local tradition known across all of Affoltern. Behind it are the Quartierverein Affoltern and the GZ Affoltern community centre, backed by local businesses. The three routes wind through the neighbourhood streets to the music of the Tambouren Zürich Nord and the Gugge Ladykillers. At the finish by the Fronwald sports grounds, everyone gets a hot cup of punch and a Weggen bread, and the GZ Affoltern invites people to carve their turnips on the afternoons before the parades.
