A guided walk through the building history of Zurich's historic old town core. It is run by the Baugeschichtliches Archiv of the Office for Urban Development and shows that the supposedly old old town consists of buildings that only look old, never were old, or were made to look old again not so long ago. The old town had to serve as a projection screen for urban planning ideas, as a hygiene problem case, as a decaying quarter to be renovated and renewed, as a tourism hotspot and as postcard Zurich. The walk leads to witnesses of the times and visible traces of this varied and ambivalent development.
