About
"Call me Paris" is a theatre production by Yana Eva Thönnes, performed in German and English with German and English surtitles on the Globe stage of the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. The director, author and performer sends her two doppelgängers through the prism of traumatic memory and dissects the 2000s as a misogynist decade in which the internet spread everywhere. At its centre are Paris Hilton, whose private sex tape "1 Night in Paris" became the best-selling porn film of the 2000s, and Julia, a young girl from Bergisch Gladbach who is given the nickname "Paris" because of her resemblance to the it-girl and likewise falls victim to a video shoot. In search of the rights to their own image, the appearing figures untangle the threads together: who is the person behind the persona?
