GAYHANE

GAYHANE is a monthly party known as the QueerOriental Dancefloor, held at the SO36 club in Berlin-Kreuzberg. It is run by the SO36 team together with the club's whole collective, who describe it as a House of Halay for queers, lesbians, transpeople and gays. The DJs Ipek, mikki_p, Aziza A and Amr Hammer play Turkish, Arabic, Greek and Hebrew pop music, while the venue is imaginatively transformed into an oriental festival tent. At 1 o'clock the dancing is interrupted by midnight peaks with a live show from a surprise guest, alongside solidarity with political and social projects, before the disco of the Halay, the oriental circle dance, gets everyone dancing arm in arm into the early morning.
