In the council elections of the Archdiocese of Berlin, Catholics elect the members of the church council, the parish council and the local community council. The election is organised by the Archdiocese of Berlin together with its Diocesan Council, which has set a common date for all parishes; in Treptow-Köpenick the Parish of St. Joseph is running it with its election commission. The vote decides what the local church looks like: the parish council is responsible for the whole parish and its pastoral direction, the community council for life in a specific congregation, and the church council for finances, buildings and legal matters. The parish invites people to stand as candidates and help shape Catholic life in south-eastern Berlin.
