Hirten

„Hirten“ (original title „Bergers“) is a feature film (France/Canada 2024, 113 min) screening at ACUDkino in Berlin-Mitte, in the original French version with German subtitles. Director Sophie Deraspe, drawing on Mathyas Lefebure's autobiographical novel, tells of Mathyas, an advertising copywriter who leaves Montréal after a breakdown and sets out to become a shepherd in Provence. Together with Élise, who throws in her office job, he takes on the unlikely task of leading a flock of 827 sheep up into the Provençal Alps for a summer. The film deconstructs the drop-out dream while still honouring the longing for a life in harmony with oneself and nature.
