Öffentliche Führung: Jüdische Ärzte und Ärztinnen an der Charité – Vollkommene Integration?
Charité Campus Mitte, Charitéplatz 1, 10117 Berlin
free
About
A public guided tour across the Charité campus that explores the history of Jewish doctors at Berlin's university medicine. It was conceived and is led by Nirit Ben-Joseph on behalf of GeDenkOrt.Charité. At historical sites and along the „REMEMBER Erinnerungswegs“, it shows how medicine offered Jewish students a chance of social emancipation from 1812, yet despite their scientific achievements they faced antisemitic barriers such as the „glass ceiling“. The tour concludes with the history of the Nazi race laws that violently ended this era, and it is free of charge with no registration required.
