Oliver Thie. The Little Things That Run The World

Galerie Georg Nothelfer presents the solo exhibition „Oliver Thie. The Little Things That Run The World“ by the Berlin artist Oliver Thie, his second in their spaces on the Landwehrkanal. Thie sees drawing as more than a depictive medium — it is an instrument of knowledge — and in cooperation with scientists he goes on expeditions into the overlooked and the invisible. At the center are three groups of works: monumental mappings of the blind Hawaiian cave cicada, drawings of freshwater snails on Sulawesi from his Snail Movement Observation Program, and profile drawings based on the historic rock collection of the Berlin Museum of Natural History. The exhibition invites us to recalibrate the hierarchies of our perception and give our full attention to the seemingly inconspicuous things of this world.
