About
SML is a quintet from Los Angeles performing live at Gretchen. Its five musicians come from the city's jazz, improvisation and indie music scenes. They take jazz apart, loop and transform it in real time, with a shared pulse and hypnotic groove at the center. Their influences range from 1970s jazz records and German avant-rock bands like Can and Faust to J Dilla's sampling tricks.
