Sonus Feminae #9: Artemisia Gentileschi & Barbara Strozzi – Zwei Künstlerinnen zwischen Ruhm und Rufmord

Sonus Feminae #9 is a concert evening of early music preceded by an art-historical introductory talk. The series is a project of the ensemble Cité des Dames, organised by Miako Klein in cooperation with Kultur Büro Elisabeth. It turns to the painter Artemisia Gentileschi and the singer and composer Barbara Strozzi, who in early 17th-century Italy stood for courage, talent and cultural significance even though women were tightly controlled by society. Madrigals, cantatas, arias and duets by Strozzi, Francesca Caccini and Antonia Bembo meet recited court records and video projections of Gentileschi's paintings, directed by Iñigo Giner Miranda.
