The Kobayashi Bookstore & The Groovy Cellar
Swart, Dreysestraße 17, 10559 Berlin, Moabit
About
A concert evening with two bands devoted to Sixties guitar pop. The Kobayashi Bookstore from Great Britain, formed in 2023, channel the spirit of the beat and pop bands of the 1960s with influences from Belle & Sebastian, The Bees and The Lilac Time, adding multi-part vocals, wit, a dash of social critique and a keen ear for catchy melodies. The Groovy Cellar from Berlin have been going since 1991 and have developed their own sound between Sixties, beat, Northern Soul, Mod Revival and indie pop, with guitars, a driving beat, organ and harpsichord. Musical closeness turned into a friendship between the two, which led to shared concerts and releases.
