About
Children who struggle with reading can each spend about 15 minutes reading aloud to Chess, a reading dog who enjoys being petted and is happy about a treat. The Neukölln public library offers this animal-assisted reading support at the Helene-Nathan-Bibliothek. Because the dog neither criticizes nor interrupts, children lose their fear of reading aloud and regain joy in reading. Participation is free, registration by e-mail or phone is required, and parents wait in the library meanwhile.
