Army of Lovers (or Revolt of the Perverts)

A screening of Rosa von Praunheim's documentary, made over seven years (1972-79) about the work and goals of the queer emancipation movement in the US, especially in New York and San Francisco. It challenges the gay and lesbian community who were often still afraid to speak openly and shines a light on hardcore activism and pioneering voices. The film is presented by Pink Palace, a low-fi weekly queer film club in the cinema's basement bar, where each film is introduced by curator Andrew Woodyatt. It is part of 'Pink, Kitsch & Revolution: The Filmmaker and Activist Rosa von Praunheim', organised by Pink Palace / The Rio Cinema and the Goethe-Institut London.
