Choral evensong with The Prayer Book Society
St Michael's Cornhill, St. Michaels Alley, EC3V 9DS London, Leadenhall Market
About
A choral evensong service, a form of evening church service built around choral music, lasting around 50 minutes with a drink in a local pub afterwards. St Michael's Cornhill holds it, continuing a choral tradition at the church that reaches back centuries. The service features uplifting choral music from the past five hundred years sung by a professional choir, the traditional words of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and the King James Version, organ music on the historic grand organ, and Bible preaching. Anyone is welcome, whether or not familiar with choral evensong; apart from an opening and closing hymn, the congregation mostly listens to the clergy, readers and choir.
