The Round Chapel, 1D Glenarm Road, London, E5 0LY, United Kingdom, Clapton
About
Gospel by Candlelight is a celebration of music, joy and community by the legendary London Community Gospel Choir, held by candlelight in Hackney's iconic Round Chapel. A 12-piece choir with a live band performs a setlist blending gospel with songs from musical theatre, film soundtracks, soul and R&B. Highlights include "Circle of Life" from The Lion King, which the choir recorded with Elton John, songs from Rent, The Color Purple and Sister Act 2, Mary Mary's "Shackles (Praise You)", and tributes to Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. Founded in 1982, the choir has performed with Madonna and Paul McCartney, played the Royal Albert Hall and took part in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
