Homelands research seminar series: Welcome to Guantánamo!

Welcome to Guantánamo! is a research seminar with a lecture by Christian Kobluk, a Polish/Burundian essayist, writer and human rights activist. Drawing on NGO reports, first-hand observations and refugee testimonies, he examines conditions in Poland's migrant detention centres following the refugee crisis at the country's eastern border. The lecture offers a critical perspective on detention, border control and human rights in contemporary Europe. Kobluk is the author of A Zone of Nonbeing: A Black Pole's Reflections on Racism in Poland and a former refugee rights advisor to a member of the Polish Parliament.
